புதிய சென்னை | NEW CHENNAI — NEW CITY
LET US CREATE THE NEW CITY OF TOMORROW.
INDIA URGENTLY NEEDS NEW CITIES FOR ITS FUTURE
India is home to approximately 1.5 billion people. As the population grows and millions migrate to urban centres, the pressure on housing, roads, water, jobs, and public services continues to increase exponentially. We cannot meet tomorrow’s monumental needs with yesterday’s rigid planning. India urgently needs new, self-sustaining mega-cities engineered entirely for the future.
First envisioned and presented globally in 2002 at the Global Indian Entrepreneurs Conference (GOPIO) in New York City, this master plan answers a call that global Indians and international visionaries have long anticipated. It represents a definitive breakthrough in spatial and economic execution.
With over three decades of global experience in architecture, master planning, and institutional leadership as a Professor, Dean, and Principal, I believe it is time to think boldly about how India can secure resilient places to live and work for generations to come.
NEW CITY, with NEW CHENNAI as its flagship vision, proposes a planned green mega-city ecosystem designed for 2 crore people, with the structural potential to expand to 4 crore.
The core philosophy is absolute, multi-layered integration: planning homes, corporate employment, industrial infrastructure, mobility, public transport, water management, clean energy, schools, healthcare, and expansive green spaces together as one single, connected system from the very beginning.
India’s younger generation deserves the dignity of living in a well-planned environment with superior living conditions, expansive economic opportunities, and a healthier ecosystem.
LET US MOVE FROM VISION TO ACTION
A vision of this historic magnitude bypasses traditional bureaucratic delays. The framework relies entirely on professional architectural leadership, where the state focus is purely on land acquisition and macro-policy backing, leaving the entire technical, engineering, and master-planning execution under the direct control of expert architectural stewardship.
LET US MOVE FROM VISION TO STRUCTURAL ACTION
We invite global development institutions, sovereign wealth funds, infrastructure consortiums, and technology partners to align with our highly capable, multidisciplinary international team to translate this master blueprint into a practical, multi-phase development programme.

FROM RESEARCH TO INSIGHT
A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
Every great city begins with an idea. Turning that idea into reality requires research, knowledge, careful planning and collective action.
New Chennai brings together ideas for a green, integrated mega-city where urban development, infrastructure, economic opportunity and environmental sustainability are planned as one connected vision.
Explore the thinking behind New Chennai—and discover how knowledge and collaboration can help shape the city of tomorrow.
THE VISION — ROOTED IN EXPERIENCE
In 2002, Prof. Ar. UK Bhoobalan presented his perspective on Urban Planning and Economic Development at the Third Global Indian Entrepreneurs Conference organised by GOPIO in New York City.
The presentation reflects an earlier chapter in his engagement with urban development and the vision for future cities.

KEY PILLARS OF NEW CHENNAI

RESEARCH
New Chennai is rooted in a long-standing interest in comprehensive urban planning, initiated in the Soviet Union in 1991. This section brings together research, studies and planning ideas relevant to the development of a large, green, integrated city for future generations.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge transforms ideas into informed planning decisions. Drawing on architectural education, professional experience and the study of cities and infrastructure, this section explores the principles that can guide New Chennai towards a well-connected, sustainable and liveable urban environment.

REFLECTIONS
Every city is an opportunity to rethink how people live, work and connect with nature. These reflections share the ideas, observations and professional perspectives behind New Chennai—a vision that places long-term public wellbeing, environmental responsibility and future generations at the centre of city planning.
